Fundraising


In the aggregated fiscal year 2013, the Network reported USD 22,778,093 obtained through fundraising. 77%, or USD 17,528,038, was raised for scholarships and program support.

In addition to raising funds externally, many AFS Organizations provide scholarships through internal mechanisms such as adjustable program pricing, trust fund allocations, or other internal sources of revenue, other than fundraising, that are used to provide scholarships.

In total, the amount of USD 17,873,218 was allocated for 3,950 scholarships in program year 2013. Out of these, 2,389 were raised externally while 1,561 - through internal mechanisms. The Network provided 1,739 full and 2,211 partial scholarships combined.

Of the USD 17,873,218 allocated for scholarships in program year 2013, USD 14,677,348 (82%) was allocated through non-governmental resources altogether (i.e. from corporations, foundations, volunteers or local network, individuals, and internal mechanisms). Internal mechanisms emerged as the top source for scholarships accounting for USD 5,566,442 (31%). Corporations with USD 4,516,418 (25%) represent the second most significant scholarship source.
